Maidstone Sprint Tri

Glenn Davies took part in the Maidstone Sprint Tri which set off from Sutton Valence School, situated high up on the ridge overlooking the Weald of Kent. Consisting of a 300m pool based swim, 18k on the bike and 4.5k traffic free run on the school playing field Glenn crossed the line in a time of  55.52.

Wiggle French Revolution Sportive – Sunday 1st July  2018

James Reeves crossed the channel to take part in the 75 mile Sportive. He completed the hot, hilly route from Calais in a time of  5.11.15gaining him a silver award. 

Pilgrims Hospice Charity Bike Ride 2018

A number of the Sittingbourne Striders Tri squad took part in a charity bike ride in aid of the Pilgrims Hospice. Starting in Canterbury the riders joined around 1200 cyclists to ride 45, 75 or 100-miles for the good cause.

In addition to supporting the Pilgrims Hospice Gina Woodfine rode the sportive to raise money for the Epilepsy Society. The keen multi-sporter completed the 45-mile course, despite being hindered by a knee injury. In doing so she raised £490 for the worthy cause. She was inspired by her daughter 20-year-old Zoe Bartlett who has epilepsy.

Wiggle French Revolution Sportive 2017

Wiggle French Revolution Sportive : 11th June 2017

14 Striders got up before dawn to take the ferry over to France to take part in the Wiggle French Revolution Sportive. Off the ferry they rode along the coast to Sangatte before turning inland to tackle the longer epic route, a hilly 75 miles. The beautiful French hills kept coming on a hot, windy June day but they stuck together, no one gets left behind being our club motto, completing the course in time to get the 6.30 ferry home.

Pilrims Hospice Sportive 2017

14 Striders took part in the Pilgrims Hospice Sportive setting off from University of Kent they completed the 77 mile route taking them to Ashford, Sandwich & Herne Bay sticking together from beginning to end in true Strider sprit.

Le Classique Francais Sportive

13 Members of the Sittingbourne Striders Triathlon Club got up at the crack of dawn to cross the channel to take part in Le Classique Francais Sportive, a 60mile ride around the pretty roads of North East Coast of France. The sun shone and the course was flat which made for a good pace for the Striders who stuck together resulting in a gold award for finishing in 3hr 52m. Des Hughes (not in photo) did the longer Epic 80 mile ride.

A beautiful spring morning offered the perfect excuse for a bike ride around the Kent countryside whilst supporting a good cause at the same time in the form of Demelza’s Childrens Hospice.
10 Striders set off on the Classic 52mile route along with 202 other entrants heading down to Headcorn and tackling Charing Hill on the homeward stretch this took them approx. 4 hours. 

3 Striders felt they could take on the Epic 103mile route with 70 entrants in total this route took them to Rye with an obligatory ice cream stop returning to the Greyhound track in around 6 hours and 15 mins.
