Sittingbourne Striders were well represented today at Pretty Muddy, a 5K race which was held in Maidstone. Emma Hudson-Wright, Orla Mcgaley James, Carey Philpott Kite, Alison Kite, Aneta Steers, Sandra Gardiner, Paula O’Reilly, Emma Higgins, Lisa Burr, Elliott Mead, Susannah Ulyatt and Alison Kemp all crossed the finish line raising awareness and funds for Cancer.
James Reeves took on Herne Bay 10K and was first Strider home finishing in an impressive time of 41.42 (PB) followed by Daniel Barnard 46.05, Tabitha Stewart 47.28 (PB) Clive Crisp 50.54, Martin Stevens 53.01, Jackie Austen in 55.30, which was a PB and Dave Wood in 1.16.39.
Chris Mudge 2.15.38 (PB), Jeff Gardiner 2.28.41 (PB), Steve Russell 2.36.27 (PB), Alison Davey 2.49.35 and Ronald Smith 2.53.37 all took on Bewl Water 15 Mile Race.
Kirsty McBride represented the Striders at Cliffe Woods 5 mile race and finished in 48.32.
Gavin Malloch was the solo Strider at Hever Castle Festival of Endurance Half Marathon and finished in 2.17.57.
Bewl Water Sprint & Standard Tri : Sunday 6th August 2017
5 Striders lined up at the start for the very picturesque Bewl Water Triathlon. A swim in the reservoir is followed by a challenging bike course which loops round the reservoir and is finished with a run along the causeway with great views of Bewl Water.
Glenn Davies (1:18:40) was first Strider home in the Sprint winning his age category and finishing 26th overall, Andy Baptie (1:19:59 – 31st overall), Paul Holt (1:35:04 -102 overall), Rachel Ward (1:35:46.35) was 21st lady and 4th in her age category,
James Reeves (2:47:12) was the only Strider to tackle the Standard distance and finished 76th
Voted as 6th best race in the UK it was a record turn out for the 18th running of this popular event organised by Wadhurst Runners. Perhaps it was the draw of celebrity Dame Kelly Holmes who started and ran in the race which takes in the pretty, gently undulating hills around Bewl Water.

Sunday 7th August, 3 of the Stittingbourne Striders took on the Standard Distance Triathlon around Bewl Water. The course makes the most of the natural landscape around the reservoir and offers a challenging event for competitors.
All 3 finished within the top 12 of their repective age group categories. While Matthew and Bradley both received extra credit in the form of Silver finishing medals for ranking in the top 50 overall.

21 Striders turned out on a sunny July morning to tackle the mud on the challenging but scenic course around Bewl water reservoir.
Paul Williams, our club chairman, led the way as first strider home in a time of 2.00:40 placing him 113 in a field of 705 runners, he pipped Ross Pilcher to the top spot who took second Strider position in a time of 2:00:50 placing him 118th overall. Taking third position and 144th overall was Michael Diddams in a time of 2:04:22. Kate Rose was 1st female strider home in a time of 2:10.
