Rye Ancient Trail & Wingham

18 Striders took a trip to Rye to complete the Rye Ancient trail race. 12 Striders completed the 30k distance. Paul Williams was first Strider home in a time of 2:39:36 and was first in his age category. Vanessa Patching and Andy Patching also achieved prizes for being first in their category. 6 Striders completed the 15K distance with Emily Middleton being the first Strider home in a time of 1:58:20. 3 Striders completed the Wingham 10K, Gavin Malloch was first Strider home in a time of 57:14. (Jackie Austen 1:02:12 and Sheila Malloch 1:08:42).

Other Striders travelled further afield this weekend. Richi Sutehall completed the Shoreham Woods 10k in a time of 58:13. Yvonne Crawford travelled to Yorkshire to complete the Paras 10 mile race in a time of 2:02:10 and Richard Morrison joined Sir Mo in The Great North Run in a 1:52:46 (PB). 3 Striders completed the half marathon distance in Surrey Bacchus, first Strider home was Talita Wigg 3:13:05. North Downs 30km 2018

A number of Striders took part in one of the most beautiful but gruelling long distance races on the Kent calendar on Sunday, 24 June. With nearly 600m of hills to climb it’s a very tough event.

Liz Weeks was first back for the team. Her time of 2hrs 26mins saw her take a spot on the podium for 2nd place overall. Elliot Stokes followed in 2hrs 54mins .

Angela Smith was first back for the Strider ladies finishing in 3hrs 48mins, Teresa Watson was not far behind in 3.55.

North Downs Run

21 Striders set out on the North Downs and 21 Striders finished the gruelling course. The race is along the North Downs Way and Weald Way, plus tracks across farmland. The course is 90% offload and the rain during the preceding week ensured it was slippery and muddy underfoot. Mick Diddams led the Strider home in 02:49:13, with Alison Davey being first Strider lady in a PB of 02:50:49. Full Results
