Striders eat up the miles at Maidstone Half
Striders turned out in force for the Maidstone Half Marathon on Sunday, 14 October.
Starting from the Cornwallis Academy the 13.1-mile course sent over 450 runners out to a loop of Boughton Monchelsea before heading towards East Farleigh to finish back at the Academy.
With a top 20 finish in 16 th place bragging rights for the first club man home went to David Valenti who whizzed round the course in 1.35.37. Ollie Pryer must have had him in his sights throughout the event as he was not far behind in 1.37.28. Third Strider home was Sam Mumford returning a time of 1.42.10.
A prize was awarded to Paul Williams for winning his age group (male vet 60+) with a 1.46.08.
The ladies were on equally good form with Rebecca Still taking 13 th overall and 6 th in her age group with 1.54.37. Runnign together to support each other were Lucy Hewett and Karen Seymour who both came home in 1.58.59 earning them top 20 spots.

Nonington XC League 13 October 2018
On Saturday, 13 October six Striders travelled to Beech Grove Academy in Nonington foe the first of the Kent Cross Country League races of the season.
The women have to comple a hilly, muddy, off road course of 5km and the men have the same conditions, but complete a 10km course.
Liz Weeks led the ladies team home taking 5 th place overall and a win in her age group in a time of 20.37. Not far behind was Jenifer Simpson in 24.39 with Emily Middleton in 28.18.
Olwen Cockell, who was racing for Swale AC, but is an active Strider member put in a good effort returning a time of 24.52.
The men’s race had two Striders forward with Gareth Lewis coming home in 43.52 and Lee Simpson with a speedy 46.21.
York 10-mile race, Sunday, 14 October
Andrea Lees Farrell and her mother Pamela Farrell put in a fantastic effort to complete the York 10-mile running race in 1.46.36. It was their first race together since joining the Striders and a great result for them both.
