2014 Race Report

The Sittingbourne Striders 10 mile road race was a fantastic success. It was held in warm sunny conditions and over 180 runners lined up at the start and were set off by Claire Rayner from McCabe Ford Williams one of our sponsors.

The club are grateful to Beadles Skoda for providing the lead car which led the runners on the 10 miles route through Rodmersham, Kingsdown, Doddington and back to Highsted School.

There was a 2k Fun Run which had 82 runners aged from 6 months to 17 years old.  Winners were under 5yrs: Owen Warne and Olivia Parker, 5 -7 yrs: William Jury and Caitlin Diddams, 8 – 10yrs: Harry Brown and Freya Jury, 11 – 14yrs: Finn Burne and Alice English.

The Main race was won by Mark Wilkins of Medway & Maidstone AC in a time of 56:36 and the first lady home was Heather Fitzmaurice of Sevenoaks AC in 1:10:11.  The trophies were presented by Graham Harraway of GRH Solutions Ltd.

All the finishers received a medal T-shirt and goodie bag which the club was able to provide this year through the generosity of all the sponsors to whom we are very grateful.
