Event: Virgin London Marathon

Distance: 26.2 miles
Almost 40,000 runners turned out on a rather chilly morning to take part in the 36th London Marathon started by Tim Peake from space! 19 Striders were lucky enough to take part in this epic event putting in some fantastic times.
Anthony Jackson was first strider home in a time of 2:51.57 placing him 987 overall. In second Strider spot was Kris Noble in a time of 2:58:00, which placed him 1707 in the field. Taking third position and first female Strider home was Liz Weeks in a time of 2:59:40 placing her 2039 overall.
Points of interest:
Phil Jackson fainted in the last mile but still managed an amazing time!
Ronald Smith (70+) took 29mins off last year’s time!
Alison Davey ran Boston Marathon in 3:38:20 on Monday and then London Marathon on Sunday in 3:35:02 a faster time!
2 ½ years ago Joanne Bing signed up with the Striders beginners group and today completed her first marathon.
Andy Baptie ran Paris Marathon 2 weeks ago in 3:22:47 and then London in 3:15:42 taking 7 mins off his Paris time and setting a new PB!
