Five Striders braved wet and windy conditions to take on the Whitstable 10km & 5km on Sunday, 29 July.
10Km: Clive Crisp put in a strong performance to take bragging rights as first Strider home in 48.37. This saw him placed 2nd in his age group and 30th male overall.
Next up and first lady Strider home was Katy Jackson with a 52.49. Katrina Fisher did well and was unlucky to not break the hour with a 1.00.49. Forth back for the club was Jackie Austin with a credible 1.02.48.
Four striders opted for a day at the seaside by taking part in the Whitstable 5km and 10km run by Fix Events on Sunday, 15 April 2018.
Representing the 10km runners were Adam Marsland, Natalie Deadman and Nicki Brown. Adam managed a personal best time of 55.14, good enough for 22nd senior male. Nicki did well to finish 6 th in her age group (vet female) in a time of 58.36. Natalie was close behind her in 1.03.59 which earned her 34 th in her age group (vet female).
In the 5km event Sally Smith wore club colours and finished in 23.21. In a field of 93 runners she was 7 th overall, 2 nd female and won her age group.
6 Striders set off on the Tankerton Slopes on a soggy Bank Holiday Monday heading out to Hampton Pier at Herne Bay. The terrain is mainly flat producing some fast running times and Rhys Goddard did not disappoint coming 2nd overall out of 618 entrants in a time of 34.08! Norman Swann was 2nd Strider home in a time of 51.08 placing him 189th overall. Emma Penfold was 3rd Strider home and first female in a time of 54.32 285th overall. Ronald Smith 55.39 placing him 317th. Laura Forster 56.04 328th overall. Max Bodimeam 58.42 390th overall.
