Ocean Lake Sprint Tri & Go Tri

Leybourne Lakes were busy with 2 events…the first was a Sprint tri which 2 Striders too part in. A 750m swim in the lake followed by a 18k bike and 5k run around the lake Katy Jackson crossed the line in 1:30:24 placing her 61st overall out of 80 entrants with Kevin Eastop close behind in 1:36:50 70th overall.

 

The second event was a GO TRI event a great way for novices and beginners to have a go at Triathlons for the first time with a 400m swim in the lake, a 10km bike and a 2500m run to end. 
This was the first Triathlon for 2 Striders…Andrew Howes who crossed the line in 38:43 4th overall out of 17th entrants and Gina Woodfine 40:04 1st lady and 5th overall! 
 

Maidstone Sprint Tri

Glenn Davies took part in the Maidstone Sprint Tri which set off from Sutton Valence School, situated high up on the ridge overlooking the Weald of Kent. Consisting of a 300m pool based swim, 18k on the bike and 4.5k traffic free run on the school playing field Glenn crossed the line in a time of  55.52.

 
Wiggle French Revolution Sportive – Sunday 1st July  2018

James Reeves crossed the channel to take part in the 75 mile Sportive. He completed the hot, hilly route from Calais in a time of  5.11.15gaining him a silver award. 

Leeds Castle Triathlon 2018

Striders were out in force at the Leeds Castle Triathlon either marshalling or competing in the event which was the next in the club championships. 21 members took part 8 of which it was their first triathlon. The competition was as hot as the weather as competitors swam in the moat, rode along the A20 and ran around the undulating grounds of what is hailed as ‘The Loveliest Castle in the World’. White Oak Tri 2018

Two striders donned their trisuits for the White Oak Triathlon sprint distance on Sunday, 10 June.

Katy Jackson swam 400m, biked 22km and ran 5km in 1.32.09. She finished several minutes ahead of team-mate Carli Deacon, who was doing her first tri. Her finish time was 1.35.31.

Leeds Castle Sprint Triathlon 2017

Leeds Castle Sprint Triathlon : 24th June 2017

As well as enjoying magnificent castle views and beautiful grounds, Striders taking part in the triathlons this year also benefitted from rousing support from their fellow club members who had been given the opportunity to marshall at the event this year. And what a weekend it was with the Tri club from having a first go at triathlons to Ironman in training the club was represented well across both days with some great results:

Oysterman Triathlon 2017

Oysterman Triathlon 2017 : 18th June 2017

4 Striders took part in the 3rd year of the Oysterman sprint distance triathlon known for being picturesque and friendly. Hot and sunny were welcome conditions for the 500m open water sea swim, followed by the 20k bike and 5k run on the technical yet flat course. Matt Nunn was 1st Strider home crossing the line in a time of 1:09:54 which placed him 9th overall out of 189 entrants and first in his age category! 2nd Strider home was Andy Baptie in a time of 1:20:41 placing him 40th overall. Martin Feaver took the 3rd spot in 1.32.50 placing him 100th overall. Danielle Smith represented the female Striders crossing the line in 1:43:23 placing her 152nd overall.

Cotswold Super Sprint 2017

Cotswold Super Sprint 2017 : Sunday 7th May 2017

Andy Baptie and Rachel Ward travelled to the Cotswolds for a early season chilly dip in the lake, Andy finished in 1.03.43 placing him 68th out of 370 entrants. Rachel finished in 1.17.19 placing her 264th, 5th in her age category.

Maidstone Sprint Triathlon 2017

Maidstone Sprint Triathlon 2017 : Sunday 7th May 2017

4 Striders from the Triathlon side competed in the Maidstone Sprint Triathlon which was the next race in the club championships calendar – the event consists of 300m pool swim; 18k bike; 4.2k run. Matt Nunn was first Strider home in a time of 54.37.10 placing him 10th out of 80 entrants overall. Glenn Davies was very close behind him crossing the line in a time of 54.37.85, placing him 11th overall and winning his age category. Rob Sapp was 18th overall in 56.41.05 and Martin Clark 20th in 57.23.20.

Maidstone Triathlon
