Also putting in some serious mileage was Andy Patching, Vanessa Patching and Teresa Watson who travelled to the Cyclopark in Gravesend to take part in the Saxon Norman Viking run. The trio ran varying distances to cover over 40-mile between them. Vanessa ran 10.5-miles in 1.54, Teresa 13.1 in 2.14 and Andy a staggering 20-miles in 2.56, smashing the 3-hour mark. A sub 4-hour marathon is surely on the cards for this strider come the marathon.

Sittingbourne Striders entered four teams in the annual Cyclopark team duathlon. The event, aimed at novice duathletes and more experienced competitors alike, consisted of a 3k run/ 13k bike/ 3k run course with each of the team of three completing the course in turn. Seven of the twelve Striders entrants were new to the sport of duathlon, however the cool early morning conditions suited both runners and riders on the closed Cyclopark circuit.

Cyclopark – Thursday Night Intervals

No Interval training this week as it is the Cyclopark 5k/10k.
If you have not done these before, they are a series of races, once a month through the winter. If we have 6 people from the club attend we can get group entry price (pay on the night).
There is a 5km at 19:00 and a 10k at 19:30. If you prefer you can run 5k at 19:30 (just let organisers know on the night).

These are a great way to check your progress through the winter.
Hope to see you there.
