Maidstone Sprint and Standard Duathlon

Maidstone Sprint and Standard Duathlon : Sunday 5th March

5 Striders were questioning their sanity as they set off in torrential rain to run around the muddy back roads of Harrietsham at the Maidstone Duathlon. Next they hopped on their bikes to battle against the winds along the stretch of the A20 between Leeds Castle and Ashford. Finally a 3.5k run was a welcome end to the race in such testing conditions. This was the first in the Tri Club Championships for 2017.

Glenn Davies was the only Strider to do the Sprint distance race which he did in a time of 1.28.39 placing him 10th overall out of 26 entrants, he was 1st in his age group which he won a trophy for.
Rob Sapp was first out of 4 Striders in the Standard distance race with a time of 2.29.10 which placed him 11th out of 36 entrants.
Chris Rogers was 2nd Strider home in a time of 2.49.50 placing him 24th overall.
Lucy Hewett was 1st (only female) strider home in a time 2.51.06 placing her 25th overall. She was 3rd lady overall, for which she won a trophy.
Ross Pilcher unfortunately was unable to finish the race.
