Canterbury Half Marathon
Eight Striders took on the Canterbury Half Marathon on Monday, 27 August 2018.
The event, held in aid of the Pilgrims Hospice, involved the runners taking on a 13.1-mile undulating course. It is a popular race, attracting over 400 racers.
Taking the prize for first lady veteran runner home was Olwen Cockell, running for her first claim club Swale AC, but a very popular and active member of the Striders team.
Christopher Mudge was not far behind with a 1.46.23. Steve Prince made sure 4 Striders broke 2 hour mark storming home in 1:49:47.
Kevin Eastop was next home with a 2.01.00 with David Whittley hot on his heels in 2.02.18. Andrew Howes put in a good performance to pass the chequered flag in 2.08.55 and Gavin Malloch finished in 2.18.41.
Emma Penfold and Katy Jackson spent their bank holiday in Gracensend taking part in the Saxons, Normans and Vikings challenge run which started from the cyclopark.
The event sees the athletes take on a circuit multiple times to see how far they can complete.
Emma decided to take on 20-miles of the hilly course. She completed the run in 3hrs 52mins.
Katy was delighted with a new pb over 16.5-miles finishing in 2.52.
