The Sittingbourne Striders 10 mile road race was a success. It was held in hot sunny conditions over 230 runners lined up at the start and was set off by a Demleza House Representative.
Whilst the main race wended its way through Rodmersham, Kingsdown, Doddington and back down Highsted Valley a 2k Fun run took place on the school field. Sixty seven children took part cheered on by Strider bear the club mascot.
The Main race was won by Stephan Wenk of Maidstone Harriers in an impressive time of 55:44 and the first lady home was Maria Heslop of Paddock Wood AC 1:01:23.
The first local man & woman runner’s home were Jimmy Sieloff & Laura Woods from Sittingbourne Striders.

Sunday The 28th April 4 members of the Sittingbourne Striders Tri were
lucky enough to take part in one of the most popular local triathlons,
the 7Oaks Tri which sell out in record time every year. The day started
quite chilly but soon warmed up with a lovely summer feeling in the
air, and the sun high in the sky.
First to set off in the pool for the 400m swim was Steve Shrimplin , followed by Ian Gower, Sebastian Charlery then Matt Norris. Out of the pool and a short dash to transition 1 (T1) where they all grabbed their helmets, bikes, sunglasses, number belts and off on the 25k bike ride around the hilly Sevenoaks country lanes. Back into Transition 2 (T2 ) where they quickly racked their bikes and put on their trainers and head out to Knowles Park where they run the 8k run route.
